Lessons

It is a gift to share these many years of acquired experience and education; not just things I learned formally, but many others that one only learns from personal insights acquired through a lifetime as a professional musician.

Offering instruction on both guitar and violin, I seek to provide a holistic, open minded approach. In other words; if you don’t really want to learn to read notation, or have no enthusiasm for the classical tradition, there are still ways to make beautiful music. My wide range of musical influences and experiences allows me allot of latitude as a teacher. Want to play Bach? I can show you how. Want to play the Blues? Ditto.

I currently proud to be a staff instructor at the G Clef Music Academy here on St. Thomas. We offer

lessons on a number of instruments, and the school provides a very positive, and nurturing

environment. I get to teach a wide range of ages, from small kids, to teens, to mature adults.

With these variations also comes a great deal of differences in skill levels. I enjoy teaching the basics,

as well as much more advanced concepts - it is all a journey.

A wise person once said: ‘Ye who seek to teach, from your students you shall learn’.

Very true words, as I’ve found sharing your knowledge with others forces you to constantly refine,

and analyze that knowledge. I also am grateful to have the opportunity to give something back to

a community that long ago became ‘home’.

I’ve never stopped learning new things about music! It’s often said that one lifetime isn’t enough to discover all there is to know. I still find cool new ways to make my violin sound more beautiful, and every time I pick up a guitar it still reveals to me one more gem that was hidden in plain sight.
